MSS
was founded 1997 and the goals were:
- To provide various selection of GOOD vocational and free time education for individuals and companies
- To offer as much education as possible locally
- To provide counseling to those in need
We
have around 2000 adult students a year,
about 120 teachers and we have about
1000 people who seek counseling at MSS each year.
Our
main target groups are:
- Individuals with no or little formal education
- Individuals that left school without finishing it
- Immigrants
- Others with an interrest to improve their situation on the market or in the need for information about education and/or funds available
We
provide many different courses such as:
- Basic level college – for those who intend further education
- Different recreation courses – handcraft, painting, etc.
- Languages and computer courses
- Different occupational courses for – tourism, healthcare, social services,
- administrators, etc.
- Icelandic for foreigners – level 1-5 – Settlers´school
- Distance learning for university students
- Adult education for people with disabilities- handycapped or mental problems
